EDU student took part in “Brine Pickles” the first English language based ‘performance literature’ group in Bangladesh.

Brine Pickles is the first English language based ‘performance literature’ group in Bangladesh. Fusing creative writing with theatrical elements such as light, music, sound-effects, photography and video presentations, they have provided a platform for local social issues to be presented to a large audience both at home and abroad.

Brine Pickles is the recipient of The American Center’s Small Grant Award 2011-2012. With this grant, they are organizing a series of workshops on creative writing and performance. The first workshop was held in November 2011 at Chittagong University, and the second in December 2011 at Dhaka University. Selected participants from these workshops got the chance to participate in a further workshop conducted by Professor Niaz Zaman, Professor Kaiser Haq and Professor Tahmina Ahmed in April 2012.

Swong Ching U (Cherry) a student of East Delta University, Chittagong  took part in this workshop. She got selected as one of the 15 writers, among the participant she was the youngest and only  student in the first phase of the workshop which was held in November 2011 at Chittagong University. Later, she also got selected in the final phase of the workshop as one of the 10 young writers of Dhaka and Chittagong. Besides being an aspiring writer and a business student she is also a singer, painter, aspiring ad film maker and a dreamy idealist who one day dreams to make a difference in the world.
