2013 was a year of achievements for EDU and its students. This year was the year of many favorable changes at EDU. We had many accomplishments and successful activities throughout 2013. Once again, we were able to live up to our expectation breasting numerous adversities. Below are some of the key achievements EDU enjoyed in 2013.
Accomplishments and Activities throughout 2013
In 2013, we became champion in ‘Social Business Plan Competition’ organized by Yunus Center Dhaka. It’s to be mentioned that EDU was 1st Runner up in the same competition in 2012. Moreover, EDU picked up championship award in the same year from ‘The Daily Star – Dristi Brain Storming Competition’ that glorified EDU as the only university in the country to win the award for three consecutive years (Hat-trick Champion)
Three of our students won the Supply Chain Scholarship organized by ISCEA Bangladesh. Each student received USD$ 500 for the competition.
EDU started receiving books from the University of Oxford. From now on EDU is to receive selected books from University of Oxford on a regular basis and our Founder Vice Chairman, Mr. Sayeed Al Noman who himself is an Oxford graduate deserves ineffable thanks for initiating and executing such a prestigious job, i.e. the entitlement to receive books from one of the world best universities, the University of Oxford.
Mr. Sabirul Islam, award winning entrepreneur, visited EDU and conducted a seminar on “Inspire1million”, which is a global vision to inspire and transform the lives of at least 1 million people worldwide through delivering empowering events focused on enterprise learning, financial literacy and self development.
We congratulate Prof. Dr. Mir Mohammed Nurul Absar for his great accomplishment in 2013. He completed his Commonwealth – AMDISA Post Doctoral Fellowship from prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and University Sains, Malaysia.
For the first time, the Department of English of EDU successfully organized international seminar on “Trauma in Literature and Film Studies” in a number of scholars from home and abroad presented their papers. EDU published the proceedings of the seminar as Palimpsest (ISSN NO 2307- 4094.
2013 was the year when we finally succeeded in launching EDU CLUBS for extracurricular activities through a grand opening ceremony where Mr. Wahid Malek, Editorial Director was the Chief Guest. To encourage and promote creativeness and ideas, EDU already launched EDU Debating Society, EDU Cultural Club, EDU Photography Society, EDU Sports Club, EDU Social Service Club, and EDU MBA Club.
Dean of Business Faculty of North South University (NSU), Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury visited EDU as Chief Guest in the Orientation program of EDU for Fall 2013 freshmen and thanked all the concerned for maintaining the quality education. “The country can gain the best education from Chittagong through a university like EDU, said Mr. Chowdhury. He also congratulated EDU as the winning team in ‘Social Business Plan Competition 2013’ competing with the universities like IBA, BUET, NSU.
Mr. Sayeed Shajedul Karim and Mr. Wahidun Nabi Chowdhury, Ex Secretarial of Civil Service visited EDU and appreciated EDU for academic and many-sided performance in very short time.
Mr. Raphael Jaeger, Director of Alliance Française de Chittagong, made a gracious visit to EDU. He appreciated that the EDU students learn French language as a program course.
Prof. Dr. Syeda Lasna Kabir of Dhaka University visited EDU and appreciated that East Delta University have already set a benchmark in education of international standard.
Dr. Rozilini M. Fernandez – Chung, Vice President, HELP University, Malaysia, came to EDU to offer a lecture on ‘Quality Assuring Transitional Education: The Necessary Evil in Internationalization’.
EDU Vice Chancellor, Prof Muhammad Sekandar Khan took part in Global Social Business Summit that took place in Malaysia on behalf of East Delta University with the theme of “Social Business to Change the World”.
An MoU was signed between EDU and British Council to promote IELTS and it learning material.
EDU faculties and CSDC conducted a Workshop on CV writing, Winning Interviews and Career Planning. Furthermore a noteworthy seminar was held on freelancing by MOZILLA and ACCA.
