Bachelor of Arts in English
Objective:
Undergraduate degree in English is a widely recognized and respected preparation for teaching, creative writing, journalism, information technology, management and administration. The BA in English program is designed to train students to be able to use English for scholarly and practical purposes by providing a broad general background in the humanities with a concentration on literature and language. Students interested in obtaining a firm foundation for further studies in graduate school will also find this program suitable. This program can provide a foundation for potential language teachers at Secondary and Tertiary levels. The program aims at excellent preparation for any profession requiring a high degree of skill and comprehension in oral and written communication.
Program Structure:
The program offers standard curricula that cover both part of language literature and linguistics. The recent developments in English as well as the traditionally formed areas will be the core of the discipline. East Delta University Bachelor of Arts in English is a 121 credit hour program, which a student is expected to complete in 10 semesters (3.5 Years). These credits are divided into core, elective and general education courses. The total number of courses required for this degree is 40, of which 8 are general education courses, 20 are core courses 10 are concentration courses and the rest 2 are elective courses The students have an option to choose one of the three streams: Language (Linguistics), Literature, and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language). A student is allowed to do concentration in one area only.
