Dreamers of the Campus

Written in Bengali by Mohiuddin Jewel for Ittefaq/English Translation by Swong Ching U (Cherry)

Have you ever met the dreamers? The ones who are determined to institute changes, too stubborn to give up? They will talk relentlessly, sing fearlessly and then again be very ambitious with their careers – expecting nothing but the very best and getting no sleep until they live up to their dreams. Well, I met them all at once.

Situated at the other side of Chittagong – Goshaildanga is not so far from Agrabad. And, if you go a little further a fine building written “East Delta University” will be on your discovery. As I climb up the stairs – I become well aware of the charming atmosphere. Classes are taking place, students copying notes in the library, some having talks with the faculties, some sipping tea in the cafeteria – everything is instantaneous like they are stitched to be together.

Born at the edge of this port city, East Delta University has been working persistently to get “higher education” to an advanced meaning. The university started in 2008 and since then it never had to look back. A manufacturer of the finest of intelligence, this university is now the penchant of the youths.

“East Delta University is much more advanced now from the other universities. We have experienced faculties taking classes via Skype, there’s e-library for the students, placement option right after the internship, open Wi-Fi in the campus, North American Curriculum and over forty courses to converse. We are planning to move forward with yet more facilities in the future”, says Mr. Arif Mahmud – the registrar of East Delta University.

Not only studies, the students are also very advanced in winning competitions. They have already been three times champion in the Dristi-Brainstorming Business case Solving competition, runner up in the admaker competition and many other small debates.

Tamima Alam was chatting with her friends, says- “our faculties are amazing! The people working here are very friendly too. Environment is exceptional. Have a dream to pull off something greater after graduation.”

Fatima Nashrah of English Department says, “The students here are studious as well as fun loving. You cannot tell them apart but inside everyone wants to reach the highest of dreams. They get influenced by each other.”

“We are conscious of the infrastructure. We care more about the quality than the quantity of students. East Delta University will soon develop into a highly regarded institution – this can be well assured.” the Vice Chancellor Mr. M. Sikander Khan articulates as we inquire further.
