Global Warming Is The Biggest Challenge In Environmental Disaster Dr. Hasan Mahmud

Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP Minister of the Ministry of Environment & Forest of the Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh said that Bangladesh is most vulnerable to the threats posed by the climatic changes. Bangladesh can be affected by the natural disasters like cyclones and floods. He shared his experiences of his recent visit to the Antarctica.

Minister, Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP was delivering his speech as the chief guest in a seminar entitled, “Global Environment Challenges and Prospects” at EDU campus on February 9, 2012 at 7 p.m. The display of photos and video clips of his trip to the Antarctica along with the Ex. Vice President of the USA, Al Gore bewitched the students and the audience alike. He said that climate change is a big threat to us and we have been able to uphold the fact to the world community.

The associate dean of EDU, Prof. A. Qaiyum Chowdhury delivered the speech of welcome in the seminar, presided over by the VC of EDU, Prof. M. Sekandar Khan. Prof. Khan offered flower bouquets to receive the chief guest honorable Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP.; Keynote Speaker, Prof. Dr. Kamal Hossain of Forestry & Environment Science at Chittagong University; chief discussant Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam.

Keynote Speaker, Prof. Dr. Kamal Hossain elaborately presented the different forms of environmental disasters of the country and solutions to them through power point presentations. At the beginning of the program Associate Prof. Dr. Nurul Absar Nahid gave a formal biography of the chief guest. Then a role play and a documentary were presented by the students of EDU on environmental issues. The chief guest was highly pleased with the performance of the students and commented that the combination of creativity, morality, and technology will help them become future leaders of the country. He also expressed his satisfaction with the standard of education at EDU and hoped that very shortly EDU will become one of the best seats for higher education in the country.

EDU students Shad Hossain, Sumaiya Mehzabin, Saleh Sunan, Karishma Habib, and Tanshi Hossain participated in the role play and documentary. The program was conducted by Mehnaz Huda and Zaheida Karim. Rafia Akter, Assistant Prof. of the Dept. of Science & Engineering expressed the Vote of Thanks. Among others faculty members Tabassum Chowdhury, Pulak Barua, Thufathunnessa Chowdhury, Asaduzzaman, Ishtiaq Aziz Jahed, Registrar (In-Charge) Mr. Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Registrar Sajal Kanti Barua and Assistant Registrar Fatima Haroon Daisy were present in the program.
